Absolutely! UV rays are your PMU’s biggest enemy. Just like they cause your regular makeup to fade and your skin to age, they’ll break down your pigment and cause unwanted color changes.
Make SPF 30 or higher your daily non-negotiable, especially over treated areas. Hats and sunglasses are your friends too! Proper sun protection isn’t just about maintaining your investment – it’s about keeping your skin healthy overall.
The term “permanent makeup” can be misleading! Unlike traditional tattoos that penetrate deeper into the skin, my PMU technique places pigment in the upper layers of the dermis. This means your results will gradually soften and fade over time – typically 12-24 months depending on your individual skin characteristics, daily habits, and how well you protect the area from sun exposure.
Think of it as semi-permanent enhancement that gives you beautiful, effortless results with minimal upkeep required.
Botox: Schedule your PMU session at least two weeks after any Botox injections. This allows your facial muscles to settle into their new positions so I can map your brows accurately.
Lip Fillers: If you’re planning lip blush and also want filler, timing is everything! Wait a full month after lip injections before your PMU appointment. This ensures all swelling has completely resolved and your lips have settled into their final shape for the most precise results.
Life changes, and so do beauty preferences! If you decide you want something different down the road, you have several options. We can lighten existing pigment, perform color adjustments to shift the tone, or you can explore laser removal if you want a completely fresh start.
This is crucial for optimal healing and pigment retention! You’ll need to pause all exfoliating products including retinol, AHA/BHA acids, and tretinoin for a minimum of one week before your appointment and continue avoiding them for at least one week after. These ingredients can thin your skin and interfere with how well the pigment sets.
Once you’re fully healed (usually 4-6 weeks), you can resume your skincare routine – just keep these products away from the treated areas to preserve your results.
